What are my options?

Central Heating

A furnace works by blowing heated air through ducts that deliver the warm air to rooms throughout the house via air registers or grills. This type of heating system is called a ducted warm-air or forced warm-air distribution system.

Boilers

Boilers are special-purpose water heaters. While furnaces carry heat in warm air, boiler systems distribute the heat in hot water, which gives up heat as it passes through radiators or other devices in rooms throughout the house.

Direct Heating

In some areas, gas-fired direct heating equipment is popular. This includes wall-mounted, free-standing, and floor furnaces, all characterized by their lack of ductwork and relatively small heat output.

Floor Heating

Radiant floor heat generally refers to systems that circulate warm water in tubes under the floor. This warms the floor, which in turn warms people using the room. It is highly controllable and efficient.

No job is too big or small, as we treat each project with the same meticulous attention to detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How energy efficient are heating systems?

AFUE for the most efficient Gas forced air furnaces is between 95 and 98%. Electric furnaces may score as high as 100%. Wood burning furnaces can see AFUE ratings as high as 88% putting them a distant third in the efficiency rankings.

  • What's the difference between central and direct heating?

Central heating systems use centrally located equipment and ductwork or radiators to distribute heat through your home. Direct heat is often thought of as supplemental heat in the form of space heaters, but there are direct heating systems on the market that are designed to heat an entire house.

  • What type of warranty is available?

You'll find that most boilers come with a standard warranty of 1-5 years. Then, depending on the manufacturer, this standard warranty can be extended for several more years by either paying extra or by simply meeting certain installation and maintenance standards.

  • What is the life expectancy of heating systems?

Here are the average life expectancies of different HVAC systems: Air conditioners and heat pumps: 10 to 15 years. Furnaces and boilers: 15 to 20 years. Geothermal: 30 years.
